Beth Ostrosky, Howard Stern’s bride, is running in the NYC Marathon

Between planning a wedding and a honeymoon, moving apartments and training for the New York Marathon, Beth Ostrosky hasn’t had a lot of downtime recently.

“I guess you could say I am a little busy,” the newly minted Mrs. Howard Stern admits before an early morning run in Central Park that will be one of her last before the big race Sunday.

The 36-year-old former model, who is attempting to complete the marathon for the first time, somehow manages to look picture-perfect going for a jog at 7:30a.m. in Central Park. Howard, meanwhile, wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning to get ready for his radio show, so 7:30 is actually a late start for this house.

Because her hubby can’t join her most mornings, Beth found a running partner in longtime friend Jane Notar, who, with Beth’s urging, also decided to run the marathon for the first time.

“Howard has been doing the shorter runs with me, but I would have died on the really long runs if I had to do them on my own,” says Ostrosky.

Notar agrees. “It’s the best time to gossip. It isn’t good to be on our s-list the week we have the really long runs.”

Following the New York Road Runners Club first-time marathoner schedule, Beth and Jane began running in July.

The four-month training program involved a slow buildup of mileage that went from 3 miles a day to the peak of 20 miles that she hit three weeks ago.

“The 18-miler was so humbling for me,” admits Ostrosky, noting how her husband joked that he was able to watch a movie, have lunch, walk the dog, play chess and have a nap while she was out training.

In addition to pounding the pavement, Ostrosky works out five times a week at Reebok Sports Club with personal trainer Clayton James.

“Since she is getting such a leg workout, we really focus on her arms and her core,” explains James. In an hour, he puts Ostrosky through more than 20 dumbbell exercises, lunges, situps and pushups that have her sweating and crying for mercy.

“Are we having fun yet?” James calls out as Ostrosky balances in a plank position for 30 seconds.

The only response is a grunt.

Ostrosky may be working out like a fiend, but diet-wise, she is living every woman’s dream.

“I can seriously eat anything I want,” she says. “Anything. Howard is amazed at how much food I have been putting in my body. We went out to dinner the other night and I had a pasta dish, chicken parm and a whole loaf of bread with olive oil.”

Ostrosky has cut out one guilty pleasure: candy.

“I used to be addicted to sugar. Gummy bears, Swedish fish, hot tamales, you name it,” she admits. “The day I decided I was going to run, I cut out sugar completely and my whole body transformed.”

Marathon training was more than enough bridal boot camp for Beth as preparation for her Oct. 4 wedding to Stern, who she has been with for eight years.

The couple had a lavish Hollywood-style ceremony officiated by Mark Consuelos (husband of Kelly Ripa) at Manhattan’s ritzy Le Cirque.

“It was so perfectly timed,” says the bride, who wore a belly-baring Marchesa gown. “Because this is the only time in my life I’ll be this physically fit and look this good.”

All the proceeds raised by Ostrosky’s run will benefit the North Shore Animal League’s mission to find permanent homes for more than 20,000 orphaned animals. Her team (called “GoBethO”) of 20 runners has raised more than $280,000 – $50,000 of which came from celebrity chef Rachael Ray.

“I’m not gonna tell you I’m going to be really fast,” she says of the challenge that lies before her Sunday. “My goal is to not come in last place.”

After that, she admits, she will probably hang up her running shoes. Her husband, it seems, is hurting from all the time she has devoted to her training.

“He is suffering,” she says. “He wanted to have sex last night but I was too tired.”
